Wow did you know that these existed? These insects are beautiful. They are beautiful living creatures.

Lycaenidae butterflies are living. It’s an insect because it has six legs and on those legs they have quite powerful grip’s. They are quite amazing creatures. They have a joint body and three body parts the body parts are called the head,thorax and abdomen. Butterflies also have 4 wings. They are medium sized in the middle main body part and then the wings are like a flat piece of paper.

Lycaenidae butterflies eat ants, leaves, food plants, flowers and fruit. They have nice colors but these certain ones have light blue, dark blue and a black outline. They fly like normal butterflies and they are free like normal butterflies. Their main habitat is near food plants so they can get to food easier.

Overall I think… that Lycaenidae butterflies are amazing and beautiful creatures and Live a wonderful life.

They are such beautiful creatures and I wish I could be like them.

One of our new Whakarua class members is playing hockey for the very first time. Erika, from Punui-o-toka, took the time to show Joanne how to hold her stick and hit the ball. It was fantastic to see her taking the initiative to be there for a new South Hornby Hero!

ANZAC Learning

For the last two weeks we have been we have been learning about ANZAC day and why we remember the people who have put there lifes at risk to save our freedom and our way of life.

• We read stories about war and just ANZAC and how the let us have freedom
• We had a special visitor, Connie's nana, who came and showed us a real ANZAC penny from the war and relatives 
• We watched a animated video about world war 1
• We done a ANZAC button, Poem, Dawn parade timeline and Summery of war.
